Noise versus signal in monitoring
A team that ignores alerts isn't careless. It's overloaded by a badly calibrated system.
When a team starts skipping alerts, the first reflex is to talk about discipline. Almost always the real problem is different: the system produces more noise than human capacity can process.
The useful metric isn't how many alerts you generate, it's what share of them lead to an action. If that share is small, the detection needs rewriting — not the team scolding.
