PensioNET: an idea between analogue and digital

A hobby project built around connecting analogue access to BrandMeister/DMR.

In 2022, the idea from which I started with PensioNET was to offer radio amateurs a way to connect through analogue radio, together with a link to BrandMeister/DMR. I was interested in where those two forms of communication could meet.

That's what I like about many hobby projects: you don't necessarily start from something completely new. Sometimes you start from existing things and from a question about how you could make them work together. The question seems short. The rest can take up many evenings.

PensioNET also had a very specific condition: available time. Enthusiasm was not a work schedule. I would move forward as time allowed, without making spectacular promises about how quickly everything would be ready.

For me, an amateur radio project does not have to be disguised as a commercial product to make sense. There is also value in understanding a problem, in looking for a solution and in discussing with people interested in the same thing. Otherwise, I end up asking even the hobbyist to present a business plan. There are already enough people demanding that.

PensioNET is one of the projects in which I took my curiosity to connect different systems. The idea of 2022 remains, for me, the part worth telling: how do you bring analog and digital into the same discussion.
